Crvena zvezda’s sharp competition sends Kabić on a new loan.
Uroš Kabić arrived last summer as a major reinforcement and promise for the future at Red Star Belgrade. The beginning seemed promising as Barak Bahar trusted him at the start of the season, but as the competitive year progressed, the Serbian youth international fell out of all plans.
The reason for this is that Bahar fell into a series of poor results and in the battle for survival at Ljutice Bogdana, he sent the best he had onto the field, even when he didn’t have to. The talented Kabić was left without minutes in the red and white jersey, and to make matters worse, Bahar himself did not save his place on the Zvezda bench.
During the winter, the red and whites brought back the specialist – Vladan Milojević. The experienced man from Aranđelovac tackled numerous problems that awaited him at the „Marakana“, one of the bigger ones being the oversized squad. Zvezda’s Clark Kent had to make cuts, give up on the younger players, and start the race for the championship title with those he trusted.
In such a lineup, Uroš Kabić did not have a chance to stay at the „Marakana“, so last January he was sent on loan to Torino. Unfortunately, the Serbian gem did not excel even in the jersey of the „Bulls“ as he did not even get his debut, but he played a few decent games in the youth team. It wasn’t enough for the Italians to buy him, so he appeared at the start of the preparations at Vladan Milojević’s call-up.
The situation at the „Marakana“ was no different, once again the squad was wide (especially in the offensive part of the team) and Kabić did not survive Milojević’s cut this summer either. Red Star Belgrade was looking for a safe harbor for their forward, a place where he would gather the necessary minutes, regain confidence and routine, and then get a new chance to impress Vladan. And they found it. Uroš Kabić was today promoted in Banovo Brdo as he will defend the colors of Čukarički next season as a loaned player.
„When I started with senior football, I liked Čukarički as a club, I liked the functioning system and the philosophy of promoting young players. I came here with good ambition and with a desire to progress, to help the club qualify for Europe. Whenever I came here, especially earlier with Vojvodina, the matches were always very tough and uncertain. Honestly, I really missed football, I’m excited about every minute I’ll get on the field. I didn’t play enough last year, I was on loan in Torino, from this distance maybe it’s too big a step for me at this moment, but it was a wonderful experience. In Čukarički, I know almost 90% of the players from before, there will be no problems with fitting in,“ said Uroš Kabić at the promotion.
He will have a chance to make his debut in the „hillmen’s“ jersey this weekend when Čukarički visits OFK Beograd in Zaječar. Kabić has been assigned the number 70 jersey in his new club, which adorned his back during his time at the „Marakana“.
