and to get a better picture of the situation, we also checked how many cars have been purchased this way so far.
According to data, in the last four years, there have been 2,498 applications for subsidies, and this is how the money was spent:
– In 2020, 120 million dinars;
– In 2021, 168 million dinars;
– In 2022, 260.5 million dinars;
– In 2023, a total of 444 million dinars was spent, according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
Last year, out of the planned 444 million dinars for the purchase of environmentally friendly vehicles, 97.59 percent, or 433.27 million dinars, was spent.
A total of 348 individuals and 796 legal entities have used the state subsidies. Out of the total of 1,144 environmentally friendly vehicles purchased with state subsidies, the most sold were traditional hybrids 763, plug-in hybrids 69, and electric vehicles 310. Two electric motorcycles were also purchased.
The program of subsidizing the purchase of environmentally friendly vehicles started in 2020 when the state aid was 120 million dinars and 112 vehicles were purchased. A year later, 168 million dinars were allocated for subsidizing this project, and 504 vehicles were purchased, out of which 64 were electric.
In 2022, a total of 715 eco-friendly vehicles were purchased with state subsidies, with a total fund of 260.5 million dinars, including 158 electric vehicles.
This year, individuals, entrepreneurs, and legal entities have the right to subsidy until October 31, and the applications are submitted to the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
The amount of the subsidy depends on the type of vehicle. For the purchase of an electric moped or light tricycle, a subsidy of 250 euros in dinar equivalent is provided. For the purchase of electric motorcycles, motorcycles with side saddles, heavy tricycles, light and heavy quads, 500 euros are provided. For electric passenger vehicles with up to nine seats and electric commercial vehicles with a maximum authorized mass of up to 3.5 tons, the subsidies are 5,000 euros.
A novelty in the Regulation is that this year, unlike the previous ones, subsidizing the purchase of electric cars only, i.e., without hybrids, is prescribed.

Banks to offer loans for e-vehicles?
Recall that Aleksandra Đurđević, President of the Serbian Association of Vehicle and Parts Importers, stated that it will be necessary to invest in infrastructure, for which there are already announcements, but also that the market will change in terms of new products, including various banking facilities. That is needed to complete the entire system of this growing industry.

We are talking a lot about this topic and that everyone has their own initiatives, that each company is working on electrification. It is important that brand representatives work locally as much as they can. Also, financial institutions have numerous initiatives worldwide, and we see that these stories are slowly coming out that certain banks will come out with some special benefits for the purchase of e-vehicles, which is actually the whole ecosystem we need. Of course, education is at the top. These vehicles are maintained a little differently but are great for driving. This is a beautiful future ahead of us – she said.
