Ana Mirković, the coordinator of the project for digital literacy for people over 65, announced today that a series of workshops will be held in ten cities across Serbia as part of this project, and they will last until June.
Mirković stated for Tanjug that this project is a part of the European Union Delegation in Serbia and that it was based on research.
„They started with relevant indicators that show that a lot fewer of our older citizens use the internet and its benefits as well as social networks compared to their peers in Europe,“ said Mirković.
This project aims to educate and empower seniors in Serbia to embrace digital technology and the use of the internet. The workshops will cover a range of topics related to digital literacy, such as internet security, social media, and using smartphones and other digital devices.
The goal is to bridge the digital divide and ensure that older citizens are not left behind in an increasingly digital and connected world. With the rapid advancements in technology, it is important for people of all ages to have the necessary skills to navigate and utilize digital resources.
The workshops will be conducted by experts in the field of digital literacy and will be tailored to the specific needs and challenges faced by seniors. The project also aims to raise awareness about the benefits of using the internet and how it can improve the quality of life for seniors.
Mirković emphasized the importance of this project, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, where digital communication and access to information online have become more crucial than ever.
The workshops will be held in cities such as Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac, and others, with the aim of reaching as many seniors as possible across the country.
The project is an important step in promoting digital inclusion and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from the opportunities that digital technology offers.
The European Union Delegation in Serbia has been actively supporting initiatives aimed at promoting digital literacy and inclusion, recognizing the importance of digital skills in the 21st century.
The workshops are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of seniors in Serbia, empowering them to use digital technology to stay connected with their communities, access information, and engage in various online activities.
In conclusion, the project for digital literacy for people over 65 in Serbia is an important initiative that aims to empower seniors to embrace digital technology and the internet. The series of workshops will provide valuable knowledge and skills, ultimately bridging the digital divide and improving the quality of life for older citizens in Serbia.
