Akcija „Prevention of Illegal Waste Dumping and its Disposal in the Municipality of Kladovo“ began today and will involve the removal of 21 illegal landfills, totaling 4,025 square meters, with 21,500 cubic meters of waste.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection has allocated 3.2 million dinars for the project to clean up illegal landfills and prevent the creation of new ones in the municipality of Kladovo, with the municipality contributing 810,600.00 dinars.
The President of the Municipality of Kladovo, Saša Nikolić, emphasized that despite the efforts of the local government and the regular cleaning actions carried out by the public company Komunalac, there are still locations where waste is illegally dumped, both continuously and in new areas, mostly along roads and watercourses. He is hopeful that this project will help encourage citizens to behave more responsibly and dispose of waste in designated areas.
To further protect and prevent the creation of illegal landfills and preserve nature, the local government will install cameras at the cleaned and organized locations, with funding provided by the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
